Thriving in the Abundant Life

Our current sermon series on The Abundant Life made me once again that Jesus is the true vine that I cling to and receive from all that I need to not just survive but to THRIVE. I love this condition of being able to thrive in Him and from Him. It is comforting. What I could be facing today may be a delay or a distraction or even a devastation for a short time but it is not the finale. Jesus will have the final say over my life and not the challenges.

Blessing in Obedience

A few months ago, the Lord asked me to bless this family with a significant sum of money.  I figured that obedience was the only plan of action, so I did what the Lord laid on my heart, even though it wasn’t convenient.

A couple of weeks ago, at our quarterly update meeting, I was recognised for the amazing work I was doing to push the company forward.  With the recognition came a bonus in the exact same amount that I was asked to give away.

If that wasn’t enough, the Lord used that public moment of recognition to mend a rather frayed relationship with a colleague, which meant more to me than anything else.

God is always Good & On Time!

I have been looking for a full-time job for about a year and my contract job was ending in April.  While I have had only a few interviews, I  knew God would take care of the family.

In March, out of nowhere, a job opportunity came up and progressed quickly.  I was offered the job!  My current contract job ended this week, and I start my full-time job next week.  Perfect Timing!  Praise God!

I would like to thank the church family for praying and encouraging me during the past year.

He Saw Me Through

I’ve gone back to school to turn my diploma into a degree and as hard as I thought it was going to be, it was much, much harder!

Although I have been out of my element and it hasn’t been easy, the Lord has been with me and enabled me to do more than I ever thought I was capable of! He has provided for my daughter and I over and over again and has revealed Himself in new ways to us both as our heavenly Father.

Its not even close to enough, but all I can say is thank you Lord!!! I’m grateful for you.

God Carries Us Through!

The first 6 weeks of 2019 has been a whirlwind for our family.  We certainly have an awesome God who got us through!  Gaelen’s thesis film was to be filmed at our home for 1 week plus other off-site locations.  However, 1 week turned into 3 plus weeks.  Everything that could go wrong did.  We had snow, ice, mud, equipment failure, damaged props (especially a damaged 6ft alien), 3 medical emergencies with 1 being a 911 response and our furnace ‘conked out’ with 30 to 35 people living at our home.  Since it was a student film, we wanted to help save money so I said I would cater!  Silly idea …. due to numerous allergies, kids on set and we must follow ACTRA guidelines.  Plus I tutored the children on set … such a challenge due to filming delays.  Among all the chaos, when Dave wasn’t ‘chauffeuring’ actors and crew, he was car shopping (due to a car accident) and on Round 7 for the same job opportunity!  Our New Year’s prayer was for Dave to land a job and that the people coming into our home would feel loved and the presence of God.  Everyone couldn’t believe how much they felt like family.  So much so, that when we came home, we had ‘Goldilocks’ sleeping in the movie set bed!  It was the producer!  We want to thank our Bridge Family (which will be in the film credits) for their love, prayers, encouragement and support.  We are happy to say filming finished last week, Dave got the job, and Dave picked up his NEW Ford yesterday.  We can make and movie about making a movie!  God is AMAZING and we give Him ALL THE GLORY!

Nothing Is Unimportant to God

I was given a beautiful hand made cross stitch cover for a throw pillow for Christmas but there was one catch, it needed a backing and to be sewed together and I didn’t know how to do it. I went to Fabricland and wandered the upholstery sale aisle looking for fabric to match the colours in the cross stitch, I was totally overwhelmed by the choices. I said, “Holy Spirit, I need help. I don’t know what fabric to choose and what to do. Please show me what to do.” All of a sudden a sales lady approached me and asked me if I needed help. I showed her two fabrics I had been looking at. She picked out one and we headed to the sewing table. There was a lady there who admired the cross stitch. I said that yes it was beautiful, but I had no idea how to turn it into a pillow cover. She offered to do it for me. We exchanged numbers and I handed her the material. Two days later I received a text and a photo. The pillow was done! It was beautiful! When I tried to pay her she told me to give a donation to a charity instead. I now have a throw pillow in my home that is a constant reminder that when we need anything, all we have to do is ask God for help. Everything about us is important to Him. Whenever someone comments on the pillow, I have an opportunity to testify to the goodness and kindness of my God.
