I did nothing to merit God sending His one and only Son to die in my place for my sins and wrong doings. There is no earthly reason or rational explanation for God to do such a thing. From my point of view, I bring nothing of value to the equation. But God asks me to choose to lay down my way of reasoning and seeing and to agree with His perspective – that I am worth the sacrificial death of His one perfect, beloved and only Son. I may not yet see why He believes this to be true, but I can choose to agree with Him and not let Jesus death in my place, be in vain.
How do we do this?
By believing in Jesus Christ and agreeing with what the Bible says He has done. By refusing to settle for being anything less than who God says we are. We may not feel like who God says we are, and we may not always act like who He says we are, but let us purpose to continue to agree with God until we see His truth manifest our lives. He who has begun this great work in our lives has promised to complete it! (Phil. 1:6 TLB) In all things, let us choose to believe God.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we stand in awe with hearts filled with gratitude for all you have done for us. Forgive us when we choose to believe in other people’s words over Your Word. Help us to see and live from Your perspective so that we will be who You say we are. Help us Holy Spirit, in all things, to choose to believe You. We want to be able to accurately represent the love of Jesus to those around us. Help us Holy Spirit to think, act, speak and live, according to what You have said in Your Word. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
