Know Your Identity

When I stop, and think of all that Jesus has done to make a way for me to be adopted in to His forever family, I am overwhelmed. Overwhelmed in the best way, by His love, His grace, His mercy and His faithfulness.

“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God”

John 1:12

I am a child of God.

I find my identity in Him. I find my worth in Him.

I am a new creation.

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”

2 Corinthians 5:17

Take a moment and Selah – pause.  Think about it. You are a child of God!  Your identity is in Him and who He says you are.  You are made worthy through His blood.  You are no longer ruled by your old self; you are a new creation in Christ Jesus.  Listed below are a few of the truths that I’ve found powerful in my own walk as I continue to discover the truth of who Jesus says I am:

  • Beloved (Jeremiah 31:3)
  • Forgiven (1 Peter 2:24)
  • Free (Galatians 5:1)
  • A Temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19)
  • Adopted into God’s Family (Romans 8:15)
  • Co-Heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17)
  • Righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21)
  • Set Apart (1 Peter 2:9)
  • A Masterpiece! (Ephesians 2:10)
  • Wonderfully Made (Psalm 139:14)
  • Victorious (1 John 5:1-5)
  • More than Conquerors (Romans 8:37-39)
  • Whole in Christ (Colossians 2:10)

These are just a few of the truth of our identity in Christ. There are many more you can discover as you read His word and dialogue with Him. It’s so important that we know these incredible truths and believe them; learning to live from this place, of knowing who He is and who we are in Him.  When we do, we will see the impossible things become possible in Him.  We will see the promises He’s spoken and the dreams in our hearts come alive as we seek Him first and learn all that is available to us as sons and daughters of the King.  That is the reality I want to live in and experience.  What about you?

PRAYER

Thank you Lord for saving me and adopting me in to your forever family.  Help me to know in the depths of my being who you say I am.  Your child.  I am fully loved, fully known and fully accepted in You.  Solidify your truth in my life and in my heart so that I can live from a place of wholeness and victory. Amen.
