John 1:1 In the Beginning was the Word and the word was with God and the Word was God…..
Rev 19:13 He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.
H.G Wells – “I am an historian, I am not a believer, but I must confess as a historian that this penniless preacher from Nazareth is irrevocably the very center of history. Jesus Christ is easily the most dominant figure in all history”
Napoleon Bonaparte – Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires. But on what did we rest the creation of our genius? Upon force. Jesus Christ founded his empire upon love, and at this hour millions of men would die for him
William F Channing – The sages and heroes of history are receding from us and history contracts the record of their deed into a narrower and narrower page. But time has no power over the name and deeds and words of Jesus Christ.
The above mentioned scriptures and quotations are a great reminder of the centrality of Jesus throughout history. So often we forget that Jesus is the most central figure in all of history, perhaps some are even oblivious that our date, time and place in history is recorded, as B.C. ( Before Christ) and A.D. (Anno Domini – In the Year of Our Lord). Unfortunately in an ever increasing politically correct world, this in many areas has been altered to B.C.E ( Before Common Era) and A.D. has been replaced by C.E. ( Common Era). Strikingly whilst attempting to eradicate the man Christ, the status or timing of the dating has remained in place, unchanged… go figure. Of all places that this became a reality to us was on our trip to Israel in 2011.
He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, and yes he is also everything in between. Mostly when it comes to Jesus, we start with the gospels and a babe in a manger, a celebration that we have taken to heart the world over in all it’s various forms and most will make much of Him next month in December.
Because we accept that Jesus birth story is told in the Gospels, often simply by default we look for Jesus only in the New Testament, forgetting as stated in John 1:1, that he was there at the beginning of all time, vs 3 and without him was not anything made that was made.
As part of the Godhead in all His radiant glory he partook in the creation of all things. Meaning; Jesus is found active in the Old Testament and the New Testament. God said in Genesis “ let us make man in our image”, We cannot simply skip over the Old Testament, simply as a historical book, without searching out the richness of what is contained therein. I am sure you have heard of the valid quotation; “the New Testament is in the Old concealed, the Old is in the New revealed”.
As Believers we will never truly grasp hold of the life in the New Testament, the dispensation of Grace unless we grasp hold of the richness of the Old Testament.
I love the value declared, that we hold to the truth and tension of a whole Bible theology; Genesis to Revelation
Let us journey together as we discover our Saviour, King, Master and Lord seemingly concealed yet fully revealed in the pages of the Old Testament.
In the Beginning….. Jesus !!!!!!!
