It’s Spring Time

Zech 10:1 Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime.spring-rain_img_3589

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

An old poem that we used to say, around springtime “the spring has sprung, the grass has riz, I wonder where dem boidies is…… Looking at the pace that spring arrives this year I am still wondering about the “boidies. hhhmmm.

With much anticipated breath we have been looking for and waiting for our beloved spring time. The transformation of the seasons, we’ve seen all the signs, yet spring is taking her time, with father frost making unwelcome appearances. It is a great reminder that there is a process to everything; a gestation period where what needs to grow and nurture for new birth must take place

It is all about transformation. Sometimes it happens quickly and effortlessly, other times like the butterfly,  struggling out of the chrysalis, the much needed transformation takes time and effort.

The prophet Zechariah, encouraged the people to call for the natural rain in springtime, and we see the supernatural rain in Acts. Lord we want them both.

1 Cor 15:46 But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual.

We can dig our heels in; we see the vestiges of winter lingering, or we can wrestle for thIMG_0605e metamorphosis like the beautiful butterfly, as it make its efforts from the inside out. Of course the rewards are with the butterfly. We see it fly free from it’s bound cocoon, into the natural sun. We can fly free to life, light and liberty, joy in the Holy Ghost. This amazingly ugly chrysalis has fought the battle and what has emerged is this magnificent creature. That flies free and seemingly hops from flower to flower.

James encourages us not to simply hear the word but to be “doers” of the word, James 1:23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.

The alternative is to simply sit and stare at our own reflection as if that might produce something. I remember as a child visiting a zoo with my parents and there was a gorilla with a mirror in his hand all he did was sit and stare at his reflection and utter these sound of bebep, bebep, bebep, attempting to lure the reflection in action or conversation, neither of which took place. He was simply and very intently staring at his natural face.  A sad revelation.

Our metamorphosis, comes through our willingness to submit to the process. As we are discovering, one of the greatest agents of change is the word of God, meditating on the word, chewing on it, digesting it, understanding it, living it. A process in the word of God, developing and growing within us. It will and does bring liberty and freedom to our souls, which are constantly being bombarded each day by world forces; tirelessly engaging us, vying for our attention.

Unlike modern society, requirements that live at the flick of a button and microwave meals, the word of God cannot be microwaved into life. Allow the incubation process to come alive within us, it will then metamorph our lives radically.

I encourage you to daily digest, feast, hunger after, spend time in, mulch over Gods word. Your eyes, ears and heart will be opened. You will discern from Natural to Spiritual and live in the abundance and life of Him

Fly, fly, fly in the freedom and the liberty of the Holy Spirit, allow the metamorphosis to complete each one of us
