What Is So Amazing About Grace?

Over the centuries, we have been awakened to different seasons in God, such as the reformation, and the counter reformation, the church and the enlightenment, Revivalism, Pentecostalism, which bore the charismatic movement, etc, etc, etc.

For the sake of this blog, I like to term theses as awakenings in God, although some have been more emphatic, on the newness of each of these “movements”, we know there is truly nothing new under the sun, or must accept that God has already revealed all there is to be revealed through His son Jesus. Which comes to the “grace awakening”. I say awakening simply because grace is not a new concept, thought or idea, it is as old as the garden of Eden.

When we understand the right foundation that was laid, we are given the opportunity to build well. Grace gives me a resistance to say no to sin, grace says; it is not in my nature to sin. Grace is not a license to sin because we are under grace. Our failure to become saturated in correct foundations ( Eph 2:19 – -21), and take heed of Paul’s, declaration 1 Cor 2:2 ” for I decided to know nothing while I was among you, except Jesus Christ and him crucified” leaves us with a poor foundation, and no understanding of who we truly are in Christ.

John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ .

Every time I read this piece of scripture, a fire is ignited in me, and forces me to delve once again into the quest of discovering more about the grace of God, and so the question arises;  “ What Is So Amazing About Grace?”.

Moses is up the mountain, face to face with God, and he is given the law written on tablets of stone, to activate and instruct the people recently freed from bondage and slavery of Egypt, BUT Jesus, comes to earth as the incarnate Son of God, and he “brings” or “ grace and truth was realized through Jesus”.  (NASB). An external dispensation is replaced by an internal one ( Heb 8:10).

Jesus brings into our lives… he effectively dispenses Grace and Truth, for he IS Grace and Truth. In Jesus, both are not thoughts, feelings, philosophies, as Jesus is the Way and the Truth, so He IS Grace.

Salvation is by grace (Eph 2:8);  it is a gift from God, a gift that we could never pay, it came at the highest price, the life of God’s only Son.

Grace is a gift that has nothing to do with you, it is love that seeks you out when you have nothing to give in return. Grace is being loved when we are unlovable, grace is irrational, it is not guided by weights and measures, or with my intrinsic qualities or gifts and talents, or anything that I may offer. It reflects a decision by the giver to the receiver, that totally negates any qualifications the receiver may have. In essence grace is a one way love.

Journey together as we discover  “What Is So Amazing About Grace”. I am excited with my awakening, to view things purely through Jesus, not clouded by an old system of law and legalism.
